Quick answer

Training should cover the full component route, not only sewing skill. The operator must understand preparation, assembly, inspection, handling and records.

Scope of this guide: This guide describes a training structure for programme discussion. It does not qualify an operator. The responsible teams must approve the method, criteria, assessor and training scope.

What should the training cover?

Use the current component method as the training map. Cover room conduct, material identity, workstation preparation, fixture use, assembly, handling, inspection and record completion.

Use the same drawing terms and revision numbers as the planned work. Update the training through the agreed document process when the method changes.

How should guided practice work?

First demonstrate the method. Then let the operator practise on agreed samples with feedback. Finally, observe the full sequence without step-by-step help.

Define which errors need more practice and which results need formal review. Training samples should be clearly separated from customer product.

What should the qualification record show?

Record the component, task, drawing, instruction version, sample, criteria, result, assessor and date. State the exact work that the result covers.

ISO 13485 provides quality-management context for competence and records. AJSM’s alignment statement is not a claim of certification or customer approval.

Check readiness before assigning work

Use the same questions for initial training and later reassessment.

  • Training uses the current drawing, method, fixture and checks.
  • The operator practises the full route, including records.
  • Observable assembly and inspection criteria are defined.
  • The record states the exact component and task scope.
  • Retraining triggers are agreed for changes or long absence.
